Marital Status / Partner's Name / Children: In 1970 as we were both beginning our senior years at UNI, I married Linda Kenison of
Northwood who I met at NIACC. We had two children, Julie and Nathan.
Julie Lindsay has lived in southern California for the past nine years. She is involved in clinical research, is married to Kevin
Drisko and step-mother to three children, Cody, Courtney and Kendal.
Nathan lives in Oskaloosa with his wife Alishia and daughter Zaida. Nathan is a marketing coordinator for Musco Sports Lighting. Alishia
is self-employed as a hair stylist. Zaida, three years old in July attends preschool and enjoys making people laugh.
Working / Retired? Activities you enjoy:
Linda and I are still enjoying our careers. I have taught language arts and journalism at Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids since
1971. She is an administrative specialist for Rockwell-Collins.
Our neighbors on Northwood Drive will tell you that we are both very active, and rarely home. We try to stay physically active with
bike riding in good weather, but Linda's more dedicated at that than I am. We also enjoy singing for our church choir.
Part of my teaching assignment is advising the student newspaper, and that has led to involvement with scholastic journalism organizations
at the state and national level. I also sing with the local barbershop harmony chorus, and find time for golf and fishing whenever
I can. I work from time to time as a freelance writer and photographer. If you google my name and Alaska, you can find some articles
I wrote last summer for the Cedar Rapids Gazette.
My mom and dad are both enjoying an active life in Clear Lake. The are resident managers in a condo, Mom volunteers for the Methodist
church and Dad gets out on the lake fishing whenever he can. I try to get up to help him with the boat a few times a summer.
Favorite song from the 60's for background music :
Anything by Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels - "Devil With a Blue Dress On," "Sock It to Me, Baby," or anything by the Beatles, Simon
& Garfunkle. It was all great. I now sing a barbershop harmony arrangement of "When I'm 64."
