My wife, Diana, and I were married in 1970 at Camp Lejune, North Carolina. I was stationed out there for a few months while I was serving in the Marine Corps. Diana graduated from Mason City High School. We have two children. Jennifer and her husband, Kevin, and their three kids, Dylan, Bryleigh & Brayden, live in Alta, IA. Doug, still single at this time, is full time in the Iowa Army National Guard asigned to the Storm Lake, IA unit and he is currently deployed in Kosovo for Operation Enduring Freedom.
In May of 2004, I retired after 28 years of service on the Iowa State Patrol. We moved to Cherokee in 1990 when I was promoted to assistant District Commander at office here. I am now working at Brown Chevrolet and Buick dealership in Cherokee as the Parts Department Manager.
The whole family has been involved in motor sports for several years. Jen, Doug and I all raced go-karts for about eight years. We moved up to dirt circle track racing hobby stock cars when Doug turned 16. I spent a few years road racing with SCCA in between. Most recently, until Doug was deployed, we were racing modifieds, with the rest of the family helping as our pit crew. That's how we have spent our summers, like I said, for several years now. Diana did talk me into taking a real vacation, we went to Hawaii last November.
Favorite songs from the 60's? Tough job! Most all of them were great back then. 'Daydream Believer' by the Monkeys; 'Happy Together'
by the Turtles and '59th Street Bridge Song' by Harpers Bizarre.
