Deborah was born July 16, 1949, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene E. and Alice M. (Coyier) Johnson. She was a graduate of Clear Lake High School. She was united in marriage to James W. Pierce Jr. on Feb. 14, 1999, in Oelwein, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, James, of Independence; a daughter, Sheila MacDonald, of Des Moines, a son, Charlie MacDonald, and his wife, Aprile, of Des Moines; a grandson, Warren MacDonald; her mother, Marcella Johnson, of Clear Lake; two sisters, Linda Bowers and her husband, David and their daughter, Emily, of Clear Lake, and Melissa Schuchard and her husband, Jeff, and their children, Dylan and Riley, of Clear Lake; a sister-in-law, JoAnn Johnson, of Mason City; three half-brothers, Michael Johnson of Louisville, Ky., Joe Johnson of Toledo, Iowa and Frank Johnson of Indianola, Iowa; and two half-sisters, Gloria Kibbe of Creston, Iowa, and Margaret Doll of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her father; and her brother, Eugene E. Johnson Jr.
Memorial dervices will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church in Clear Lake with the Rev. William Black officiating. Friends may call from noon until service time at the church.
Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, is in charge of arrangements.
